Would you like to be able to find things easier in your home? There are many ways you can reinvent your living space by using a few decluttering hacks. Below are just a few of the best ways to declutter your home.

1. Declutter Your Closets

Here is a quick way to make your walk-in closet a closet you can actually walk into again. Take all the clothes that you have not worn in the last year and donate them to charity. Chances are you only wear a few select outfits and the rest just take up space. You will not only help those in need, but you will also be able to have more space in your closet again.

2. Inspect and Toss Your Old Spices

The kitchen is one of the most cluttered places in the home. One area of the kitchen that gets particularly cluttered is the spice rack or cabinet. Spices tend to last about 12 months. However, there is a simple way to test if your spices are still good. Open up the bottle and take a whiff. If the spice no longer has a smell, then it is no longer fresh and you should toss it.

3. Clean Out the Fridge

Take one afternoon and check everything in your fridge and your freezer. If the food is expired, throw it away. Also, if you find something in your fridge or freezer that you can’t identify, then play it safe and get rid of it.

4. Organize Your Electronic Cables

Everyone has that one drawer with a tangled mess of cords and cables. You probably don’t know which one goes where by simply looking at them. Sort them into sections marked “computer cables,” “music cables,” “USB cables,” “TV cables” and “camera cables.”

Throw away any cables that you can’t identify and find a dedicated place to keep your sorted cables so you can always find them when you need them.

5. Store Important Manuals In One Place

Everything from your washer and dryer to your camera to your TV comes with its own users manual, which is actually important to hang onto. However, you simply can’t have 20 separate manuals sitting in 20 different places around your home.

Get a file box and store all your manuals in one place. Label separate folders to keep different manuals in. This will make all of your manuals easy to find when you need them.

Declutter Your Home During the New Year

It is easy to declutter your home. Get rid of or donate the stuff you don’t use, throw out broken and expired items, and organize the rest in dedicated places. You’ll be surprised how much extra space you’ll reclaim in your home.
